Iran, Romania call for closer ties

BUCHAREST, Jul. 11 (MNA) – Iran’s Deputy FM Majid Takht-Ravanchi and Romanian Foreign Minister Lazăr Comănescu held talks on expansion of bilateral ties in Bucharest on Sunday.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for American and European Affairs Majid Takht-Ravanchi, who is in Bucharest for an official visit, held a meeting with Foreign Minister of Romania on Sunday and called for establishment and development of banking transactions between the two countries in line with fulfilling cooperation projects.

Noting Iran’s full commitment to the JCPOA, Takht-Ravanchi called on other parties to the nuclear deal to also comply with their obligations, and demanded further constructive measures by the US in fulfilling its commitments as mentioned in the text of the agreement.

The Romanian foreing minister, for his part, highlighted his country’s determination in deepening relations between Tehran and Bucharest in various fields, and voiced Romania’s readiness for holding a joint economic commission with Iran.

Comănescu further expressed his satisfaction with his recent visit to Iran in March, and extended an invitation to his Iranian counterpart Mohamamd Javad Zarif for a likewise visit at the earliest possible time.

The two sides also conferred on regional crises and cooperation on combating terrorism and extremism.
