Iranian, Turkish literary centers screen joint coop.

TEHRAN, Sep. 20 (MNA) - Officials of Iran’s International Saadi Foundation and Turkey’s Yunus Emre Culture Center in Tehran met here to discuss joint educational cooperation.

The meeting was held between the international affairs deputy of Saadi Foundation Seyyed Mohammadreza Darbandi and the head of Yunes Emre Center in Iran Şamil Öçal.

During the session, the Iranian official said that the center is ready to expand cultural and educational ties with the Turkish institute. He also presented suggestions on holding joint conferences on famous Iranian and Turkish literary figures namely Yunes Emre and Saadi or Yunes Emre and Shahriar. They also talked about holding special cultural programs for Turkish students studying in Iran and vice versa.

Şamil Öçal, for his part, said “Yunus Emre Culture Center was established in 2009 in order to present Turkey’s history, arts, culture and language, so far 38 branches of it have been opened outside Turkey which hold Turkish language courses, scientific projects, cultural activities as well as summer classes for boosting cultural ties.”

Supported by the government of Turkey, the cultural institute also holds literary-cultural seminars, calligraphy courses as well as sessions with writers and poets and poetry nights and concerts, he added.

Tehran’s branch inaugurated in 2012 and has held different programs so far.

Şamil Öçal, expressing hope for boosting ties with Saadi Foundation, invited the Iranian center to attend Turkey’s Cultural Week.
