Iraq in dire need of Iran's defense aid

TEHRAN, May 19 (MNA) – Hailing Tehran’s defense assistance to Baghdad, Iraqi Defense Minister Khalid al-Obeidi on Monday said Baghdad is in dire need of Iranian defense aid.

Al-Obeidi, in a meeting with Iran's visiting Defense Minister Hossein Dehghan, voiced hope that Iraq would be able to overcome enemies of Iraqi nation through Iran's assistance.

Outlining the challenges the Iraqi government is facing under the current sensitive situation, Al-Obeidi discussed the threats posed by professional terrorists sponsored by the Saudi government with his Iranian counterpart.

He reiterated that further expansion of cooperation between Iran and Iraq will definitely empower Iraq to overcome menaces of terrorism.

Discussing the latest developments in Iraq's fight against terrorists, Iraqi official stressed unity, integration and bravery of Iraqi armed forces and nation as a key factor against the will of terrorists which is to gain sinister objectives.

Heading a high-ranking defense delegation, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehghan arrived in Baghdad on Monday for talks with the Iraqi senior officials.
