Iran to provide rehab insurance

TEHRAN, Sep. 08 (MNA) – Iran Expediency Council has ratified a bill to provide for insurance for addiction rehabilitation services.

Iran Ministry of Cooperatives, Labor and Social Welfare had requested the Expediency Council for amendments to its 2010 laws regarding anti-narcotic drugs.

Based on the amendment ratified on Saturday, the ministry will provide insurance programs to cover all expenses of rehab plans for drug addicts. The government is also required to consider enough credits in its budget proposals.

After discussions between the Parliament, Health Ministry, Iran Insurance Company and other officials, the Council ratified a bill to put all addiction recovery services under insurance coverage.

The Expediency Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran is an administrative assembly which was created on 6 February 1988. It is in charge of resolving differences or conflicts between the Parliament and the Guardian Council, the council can also ratify bills.
