Imam Hussein was Muhammad’s (PBUH) grand-son who left Medina in Hijaz (today’s Saudi Arabia) for Kufa (present Iraq) to uphold Islam against Yazid’s villainy. Yazid intended to get his confirmation for Khilafah (government), but Imam Hussein did not want to legalize the governance of the corrupt dynast. People of Kufa had sent Imam Hussein friendly letters, but Yazid intercepted him in the midway, buying the weakly motivated away from the Imam.
The Yazidian army closed around Imam and his followers in Karbala and demanded him to pay allegiance to Yazid. But Imam told them he would not abide to such allegiance.
An unfair war broke out and Imam’s army, comprised only of 72, stood against thousands of the Yazidian army. Despite Imam and his army’s valor they were all martyred and their family taken prisoner, recording an unbelievable epic in history. Doing so, Imam Hussein departed to all the freehearted the message to be after the truth and equality even if they are few in number. The event in Karbala has had a great impact on the Iranian. The Iranian spend 10 days each year mourning for Imam Hussein and reviewing the rationale behind his uprising...
A couple of days after the event in Karbala and Imam Hussein’s martyrdom, his 3-year-old daughter was struck by heart attack for the vehemence of disasters befalling her and deceased...
The Iranian take part in the memorial for Imam Hussein’s daughter with their children, putting on them garments like those of the 3-year-old girl.
This ceremony in which a great number of children take part has its own beauties.
