Twig weaving in Razavi Khorasan

TEHRAN, Mar. 09 (MNA) – The art of weaving willow twigs (called Arghavan or Tarakeh in Persian) is a handicraft profession in Iran. The artists use small and thin twigs called Morvar and weave them together to create baskets, utensils, trays, etc.

Having easy access to plants suitable for weaving has made it one of the main handicrafts and souvenirs of Gilan, Hamedan, Isfahan, Khuzestan, and Sistan and Baloochestan and Razavi Khorasan.
