TEHRAN, Aug. 15 (MNA) – The spider-tailed horned viper is a unique species endemic to western Iran that uses its ‘spider-tail’ to lure in preys. When a defenseless bird approaches its tail in hopes of finding a delicious spider, the viper gets hold of the bird in a swift movement and kills it. The species was first described in 2006, and captured on film for the first time in 2015 as part of a documentary on reptiles in Iran.
