TEHRAN, Dec. 31 (MNA) – Massud Hojjat, acting managing director of TAVANIR Co. said the company would attempt to move in line with connection of the national power grid to the power networks of the regional countries.

Iran presently exports power to Azerbaijan, Armenia, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iraq, and has barter cooperation with some of them, he added. 

 

Hojjat also said that Iran’s Azarbaijan Regional Power Company including the provinces of East Azarbaijan, West Azarbaijan, and Ardebil is the most important power transmission body, adding, concerning the country’s geographical situation, the seasonal and daily peak differences could be used in order to exchange and provide the required electricity at the peak consumption time.

 

Based on the plans, the amount of power production should be increased by two times within the next ten years, thus several power plants are being constructed throughout the country, as four power plants are presently set up in Ardebil, Sahand, Urmia, as well as Tabriz plant are being developed. These power plants would totally produce over 3000 MW electricity.

 

In conclusion, Hojjat stressed role of the private sector in providing credits for building power plants and said that so far, the private sector has made some BOT (build-operate-transfer) agreements to construct plants.
