TEHRAN, Oct. 25 (MNA) – Based on the latest report released by the United Nations in 2004, the Islamic Republic of Iran ranks 101st in the world as far as developing human resources is concerned, Abbas Gaffari, deputy Industrial Development and Renovation Organization (IDRO) for Planning and Human Resources Management said here Monday.

Rate of literacy, hope for life, and per capita income are parameters underlain for the division, Gaffari said, adding that in Iran, the literacy rate is 77%, hope for life rate is 70 years and one month, and the annual per capita income is $6,690.

 

Bahrain ranking 40th, Kuwait ranking 44th , Saudi Arabia having 77th and Turkey with the 88th  rank are among regional countries that have better situation in developing human resources than Iran, he said.

 

However, Iran has better condition in gross national product (GDP) compared with human resources, as it ranks 79th, he noted.

 

The manager explained that studies conducted world wide indicates that development of human resources would bring about wealth production and increase of stocks price for the organizations and brokerages, thus the legislative and executive organizations should pay more attention to development of these resources, adding that social investment is prerequisite to enhance development of human resources.

 

Presently there is great number of the jobless graduates, for whom development human resources would generate job opportunities, Gaffari mentioned.   

 

He further explained that studies conducted in 192 countries indicate that in producing wealth, human resources, physical resources and natural resources contribute 36%, 20%, and 44% of GNP respectively in the developing countries.

 

He went on to say that in the countries that have no natural resources, the human resources with the amount of 16% and natural resources with the amount of 28% play role in producing wealth, adding that in the developed countries, the figure for physical resources is 16% and it is 17% for natural resources.

 

In conclusion, Gaffari announced that the conference of developing human resources will be held in Tehran in May 2005.
