TEHRAN, Aug. 24 (MNA) – Extraction of minerals has risen from its 95.5 million tons in 1996 to 139 million tons in the past Iranian calendar year (ending March 20, 2004), registering an annual 5.5 percent increase, Fars News Agency reported here Tuesday.

In 1996, some 17.806 million tons of cement was produced by the domestic factories while the figure for the past year stood at 30.466 million tons, which shows an annual hike of eight percent.

 

During last year, 407.3 tons of paper and 1,291.5 tons of cooking oil were produced, demonstrating 6.8 percent and 7.4 percent growth respectively as compared to the 1996 level.
