TEHRAN, June 9 (Mehr News Agency) -- The Majlis presiding board has failed in meeting the expectations of the society as well as those of the lawmakers in the last three years, said the deputy Mohammadreza Khabbaz.

Saying that the board has a significant role in managing the chamber, he added, "In spite of the fact that the Majlis speaker is the head of one the three branches of the government, the decision making is through council management."

"It was expected that after the Khordad 2 (23 May 1997) event and the establishment of a parliament that was in coordination with the government, a powerful and competent presiding board which is different from those of the past parliament will be formed."

"But it turned out to be the other way round," the legistlator said.
