TEHRAN May 9 (MNA) –- Bidestan Paper Mill, the largest paper mill constructed to date in Iran, was inaugurated in Safashahr, Fars Province.

According to the Iranian Students News Agency (ISNA), Bidestan Paper Mill’s chairman of the board of directors Seyyed Javad Va’ezpur said that the factory’s design and construction was a wholly Iranian project, but the government did not contribute toward the factory’s financing.

Va’ezpur explained funds needed for construction of the paper mill were met through the financial support of city residents, adding the company sought no financial assistance from the government rather opted for the government providing facilities and services for factory employees.

Fars Province planning official Khabiri stated at the inaugural ceremony that Iran has an unnecessarily high per capita paper consumption that is a waste of national wealth, inefficiently utilizing Iranian natural resources.

The Bidestan Paper Mill will facilitate the efficient utilization of resources. Khabiri emphasized the factory will help industry, particularly those producers engaged in packaging, with wasted paper being recycled.
