In an interview with Al-Mayadeen, Sheikh Naim Qassim, said: “(among all Arab countries) only Syria congratulated the [Hezbollah] resistance victory. Before the death of Hafez Assad, we analyzed post-Assad Syria in Hezbollah Council meetings; we had differences with many Syrian politicians, and we were frank with Assad in this regard.”
“After Hafez Assad death, Syrian President Bashar Assad revealed Syrian tactics especially in the negotiations. Syria has a strategic relationship with Hezbollah, and we explained it to him, from the moment Assad came to power after his father. During President Bashar, support for resistance has been widespread,” said he.
Sheikh Qassim reiterated: “Our position on Syria is based on righteous demand, and anyone who is with resistance movement we'll be supporter of him as well.”
“We help anyone willing to provide resistance against Israel, and we have the power to deal with any folly by the Zionist regime,” he asserted.
Sheikh Qassim pointed to efforts of some European countries for including the name of Hezbollah of Lebanon on the list of terrorist groups. “The defeated and frustrated [West] have described Hezbollah as the ‘Party of Satan’.”
He expressed concern about the political situation and the status quo in Lebanon and reiterated: “we are ready to form a national unity government in Lebanon.”
