The conference will be opened at Imam Sadeq University on Saturday, October 13. Religious dignitaries from 40 countries will participate in the conference.
The aim of the conference is to “internationalize” the Al-Ghadir school of thought, Ahl al-Bayt World Assembly chief Hojatoleslam Mohammad Hassan Akhtari told a press conference on Tuesday.
Al-Ghadir was the last major sermon of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his household), which was made at Ghadir Khumm on Dhul Hijjah 18, in the year 10 AH (632 CE). Shias regard the sermon as confirmation that Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib (AS) was to succeed Prophet Muhammad (S).
