TEHRAN, June 20 (MNA) – An attempt by pirates to hijack an Iranian merchant ship near an Indian port was foiled by the Iranian Navy, Deputy Navy Commander Mahmoud Mousavi announced on Wednesday.

When the ship came under attack by eight speed boats, Iranian commandoes rescued the ship and put the pirates to flight.

The Iranian Navy has recently saved many ships, including foreign ships, from pirate attacks in the international waters.
