TEHRAN, March 10 (MNA) – An attempt by pirates to hijack an Iranian tanker named “Hatef” near the Gulf of Aden was foiled by the Iranian Navy, the Persian service of IRNA reported on Saturday.

Iranian commandoes rescued the tanker, which was destined for Egypt’s Suez Canal, when it came under attack by four pirate ships.

The pirate ships attacked the Iranian tanker two times at 11:30 p.m. and 2:00 a.m. but they were forced to escape.
