The request for meeting came from Annan, the former UN secretary general. Salehi was in the Swiss city to address the UN Human Rights Council.
Pointing to the strategic situation of Syria in the Middle East, Salehi insisted on the need for a resolution of conflict in Syria through dialogue and a continued implementation of reforms announced by Syrian President Beshar Assad.
Salehi blamed foreign intervention for an exacerbation of situation in Syria and said it is necessary to help the Syrian government to go ahead with reforms.
Annan was appointed by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and Arab League chief Nabil Elaraby last Thursday as joint special envoy on Syria.
