RASHT, Oct. 29 (MNA) -- Persepolis football team edged past Damash in the Iran Professional League (IPL) on Saturday.

On a rainy day at Rasht’s Sardar-e Jangal Stadium, the Tehran-based football team beat Damash 3-2.

Vahid Hashemian scored for the visiting team after 15 minutes with a header. Mohammad Gholami canceled out the goal seven minutes later, chipping the ball over Persepolis keeper Alireza Haghighi’s head.

Persepolis substitute Hadi Norouzi headed the ball into back of the net just three minutes into the second half but unmarked Afshin Chavoshi equalized the match again in the 60th minute.

With two minutes left until the final whistle, Mohammad Nouri scored the winning goal for Persepolis.

“I dedicate our victory to all Persepolis’s fans. Persepolis showed a better performance in the second half and we could have scored even more goals. I am so glad since we have been under pressure in the previous weeks. It’s a big boost for our players and fans,” Persepolis coach Hamid Estili said.

In the other matches, Naft beat Shahin 2-1 in its home game and moved up to the top of the IPL standings table.

Traktorsazi also defeated its host Sepasi 2-1 in Shiraz.
