TEHRAN, Sept. 18 (MNA) – Army commander has said that military forces will deal the final blow to the counter-revolutionary group PJAK (the Party for a Free Life in Kurdistan) in the near future.

PJAK terrorists will soon meet their doom and security in northwestern border areas will be restored, Brigadier General Ahmadreza Pourdastan told IRNA on Sunday.

Considering Iran’s military capability, PJAK’s movements are not a major security threat to the country, the commander noted.

He added that the operations carried out by the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps and the Army have put terrorists in a weak position and they have scaled down their harassing activities in border areas.

Since July 11, military forces have carried out several major operations against the counter-revolutionary group PJAK in northwestern Iran and have inflicted heavy casualties on the group.

Military commanders have announced that the operations are being conducted to clear terrorists out of the region.
