TEHRAN, June 17 (MNA) -- The Persian language and literature association was established at the Peking University during a ceremony on June 24 in Beijing.

The event was attended by the Iranian cultural attaché to China Aziz Alizadeh, the head of the Teaching and Research Division of Iranian Studies
Xiguoan and professors of the university.

At the ceremony, Alizadeh expressed his thanks over the efforts of the university’s officials to follow the suggestion of the cultural attaché office for establishing the association.

“There should be a definite reason for inauguration of an institution and it should pave the way for boosting cultural ties between the nations,” Alizadeh mentioned during the ceremony.

He said that the association begins its work with holding a cultural exhibition that displays books, handicrafts, photos, paintings and calligraphy in one of the halls of the Peking University.

After that, the dean of the Institute of Iranian Culture Studies at Peking University, Yidan Wang, announced her approval for holding the showcase saying that the department was ready to hold the exhibition and the exhibit would be an opportunity to introduce Persian culture.

The books published on Iran by the Peking University as well as books that were released by the cultural attaché’s office will go on display during the showcase.

The association is sponsored by the Iranian cultural attaché’s office in Beijing.
