Hassan Qashqavi of Iran’s Foreign Ministry and Javid Loddin of the Afghan Foreign Ministry as well as a number officials from both countries attended the conference.
Qashqavi said Iran is determined to resolve the consular problems of Afghan expatriates and said Iran plans to legalize the immigration of Afghan nationals to Iran.
“A plan has been drawn up to organize the (affairs of) Afghan nationals and it will be delivered to the relevant officials,” he stated.
He also stressed the need to facilitate visa applications for both Iranians and Afghans in order to improve interactions between the two countries.
Loddin, for his part, thanked Iran for allowing both documented and undocumented Afghans immigrants to stay in Iran.
He also said that Afghanistan is ready to cooperate with Iran to resolve such problems.
The two sides also called for setting up consulates in the different parts of the two countries.
