TEHRAN, April 4 (MNA) - President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said that the Western countries, particularly the United States, are seeking to divide Jordan and annex part of it to the West Bank in an attempt to create the Palestinian state with the aim to save the Zionist regime.

Through implementing this plot they want to save the Zionist regime from annihilation and tell the world that an independent state of Palestine has been formed, Ahmadinejad told reporters at a press conference in Tehran on Monday.

However, these attempts will not save Israel from extinction, he added.

Jordanian king to visit Iran in near future

The president also announced Jordan’s King Abdullah II has been invited to visit Iran and this visit will be made in the near future.

No concern about nuclear disaster in Iran

Asked if Japan’s nuclear disaster has made Iran to revise its decision to build more nuclear power plants, Ahmadinejad said the Bushehr nuclear plant meets the highest safety standards and there is no concern in this regard.

Moreover, Japan’s Fukushima nuclear plant ran into problem due to tsunami and there is no record of tsunami in the history of the Persian Gulf, he said.

Syria is Iran’s friend

Asked about Iran’s position toward the unrest in Syria, Ahmadinejad said, “We do not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries.”

“The Syrian government and nation are our friends,” he added.

The U.S. and its allies do not want the Syrian nation to live in peace, however, the Syrian nation and government will manage to resolve their problems themselves, Ahmadinejad added.

Obama will leave office in a more disgraceful way than Bush

Ahmadinejad also said that U.S. President Barack Obama will leave office in a more humiliating way than his predecessor George W. Bush did.

Although their slogans were different, they pursued similar policies, he stated.

Obama came to power with the slogan of change, but it became clear that by ‘change’ the Washington officials meant to turn everything into their own benefits.

However, the double standard approaches adopted by U.S. officials have unmasked them, the president remarked.

President Ahmadinejad also said that the United States is seeking to “hijack” revolutions in the Middle East and North Africa.

“Everyone must remain vigilant because they (the U.S.) are seeking to hijack popular uprisings with the aim of serving the interests of the capitalists,” Ahmadinejad stated.

Arab uprisings foiled U.S. plots

Elsewhere in his interview, Ahmadinejad stated that the current popular uprisings roiling the Arab world have foiled the plots hatched by the United States.

Iran keen to reestablish ties with Egypt

He also stated that the Islamic Republic of Iran is keen to reestablish diplomatic relations with Egypt.

However, Egypt must not set any precondition in this regard, he added.

Israel’s days are numbered

Ahmadinejad also said that given the new developments in the region, the life of Israel will come to an end soon, the president predicted.
