TEHRAN, Sept. 26 (MNA) -- Two persons who have been detained on suspicion of murdering heart specialist Dr. Gholamreza Sarabi have confessed to killing, criminal interrogator Mohammad Shahriari announced on Sunday.

Health Minister Marzieh Vahid Dastjerdi said earlier on Sunday that two persons who had been suspected of killing Dr. Sarabi have been arrested and they are under interrogation.

Dr. Sarabi was shot in front of his office on Wednesday night one day after another physician Dr. Abdul-Reza Soudbakhsh was shot dead.

Dr. Sarabi succumbed to his injuries on Friday.

The murderers have mentioned personal motives for their act, Shahriari told the Fars News Agency.

He added further investigation is being conducted to reveal the hidden aspects of the case.

Top legislator Alaeddin Boroujerdi also ruled out on Sunday any political motives behind the assassination of the two physicians in Tehran.

“The assassinations were not political,” Boroujerdi told reporters.

Tehran police investigator Abbas Ali Mohammadian had already said there was no evidence that these two murders are connected.

MP Kazem Jalali also quoted Deputy Interior Minister Mehdi Mohammadifard as saying, “Assassin(s) of one of the physicians have been arrested and some clues have been found about the other case.”
