Shooting began in south Lebanon on Saturday during a ceremony attended by Iranian Deputy Culture Minister for Cinematic Affairs Javad Shamaqdari, the Farabi Cinematic Foundation director Ahmad Mir-Alaii, and several other officials.
Iran filmmaker Jamal Shurjeh is the director of the film entitled “Heavenly South”, the Iranian Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance reported in a press release issued on Monday.
The film is based on documented events that happened during the 33-day Lebanese resistance against the Israeli attacks. Actors from Lebanon, Syria and Iran are among the film’s cast.
“There are many heroes throughout history, but those who are recorded in the language of art are remembered perpetually,” Shamaqdari mentioned.
He went on to say that Iran has made more than 20 films about Lebanon and that private film companies can collaborate with Iran’s Farabi Cinematic Foundation for producing joint projects.
