MASHHAD, Jan. 23 (MNA) – Three wagons of the Mashhad-Tehran passenger train went off the tracks on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. local time, leaving seven persons dead and 22 others injured.

The dead included a four-year old boy and six women.

 

According to Health Ministry officials, 12 of the injured were hospitalized and the rest, who suffered minor injuries, were discharge from hospital.

 

According to reports, three of the injured were in critical condition.

 

The incident happened near Joghtai, a city near Sabzevar.

 

The injured were transferred to hospitals to Sabzevar, Semnan, and Shahroud.

 

The Health Ministry released the names of those injured in the calamity.

 

The supreme council for studying rail accidents has launched an investigation into the cause of the derailment.

 

The high-speed train, which had the capacity for housing 300 passengers, was moving from Mashhad to Tehran with 55 passengers.
