TEHRAN, Oct. 19 (MNA) – In decree issued by Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki here on Monday, Mahdi Safari was appointed as Iran’s new ambassador to Britain.

Safari previously worked as deputy foreign minister for European affairs.

He also has held the posts of deputy foreign minister for Asia, Pacific and Common Health of the Independent States, foreign minister’s special envoy for the Caspian Sea affairs, Iran’s ambassador in Austria, Germany and Russia.

 

Mottaki, in a separate decree, appointed Ali Ahani as deputy foreign minister for European affairs.

 

Ahani worked heretofore as Iran’s deputy foreign minister for educational and research affairs and ambassador to France and Belgium.
