TEHRAN, June 9 (MNA) -- The Spanish University of Alicante and Iran’s cultural office in Madrid signed a memorandum of understanding to promote cultural ties.

The MOU was signed at the venue of the university between the head of the university Ignacio Jiménez Raneda and Iran’s cultural attaché Ahmad Khezri.

Both parties agreed to develop bilateral cultural relations and to provide the facilities to hold conferences, conduct research, exchange students and academic teachers, as well as exchange books and scientific research.

Jiménez Raneda expressed his appreciation and said that the University of Alicante is holding a course on teaching the Persian language and many interested students are becoming familiar with Persian culture and civilization.

He mentioned that the university held a short course last summer with the cooperation of Iran’s cultural office in which Iranian studies were taught, adding that the students requested that the course be repeated next year.

Khezri also said that Iran is ready to facilitate the groundwork for further studies and increased relations between researchers and scholars from both countries.

The University of Alicante offers courses in more than fifty degrees. It includes over seventy departments and research groups in the areas of social science and law, experimental science, technology, education and health sciences, and has five research institutes. The University also offers preparatory courses in Spanish for foreign students throughout the year including summer.
