TEHRAN, Mar. 6 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki said on Thursday that Saudi Arabia’s recent position and its failure to see the “real challenges” facing the region are “surprising”.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal on Tuesday called for a joint Arab strategy to deal with what he called the "Iranian challenge" at a meeting of Arab foreign ministers in the Egyptian capital.

“We are surprised to see that our friends have moved away from realism,” Mottaki told reporters in Tehran.

He pointed out that the Muslim world, including the Arab world, opposes such views.

Mottaki said Iran will welcome any efforts which help avoid division among Muslim states including Arabs, adding all Muslim countries should avoid making remarks that do not serve the Muslim world’s interests.
