TEHRAN, Feb. 20 (MNA) -- Iranian book “Arang Arang Tells Me What Color” by Afsaneh Shabannejad was appreciated at the Bologna International Children’s Book Fair.

Published by the Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults, the book was honored at the New Horizons Section of the book Fair.

The book, illustrated by Rashin Kheyrieh, is a combination of folk songs and children’s games.

“From the many examples submitted, the jury appreciated Iran’s strong independent tradition of a centuries-old narrative history from which artists clearly draw inspiration. The masterful artwork in this book is even more incisive, elegant and alluring, showing how vibrant this tradition continues to be.

“The visual universe we all share here is made up of new and old. There are references to ancient works and age-old canons but also to 20th century graphic art. This interaction of cultures not only yields a delightful visual experience but also shows us a world in which no source of inspiration is rejected whatever its origin,” the jury mentioned about the book.

The Bologna Children’s Book Fair is the most important international event dedicated to the children’s publishing and multimedia industry.

In its 46th edition, authors, illustrators, literary agents, TV & film producers, licensors and licensees, packagers, distributors, printers, booksellers, and librarians gathered for the Italian festival.

The winners will be awarded during the book fair, which will be held from March 23 to 26.
