People should be familiarized with this beneficial trade, he said. The occasion is to be celebrated in a small village near Qeshm.
“We educate the procedure through which shrimps are raised and packaged,” Rezapur stated. Investors may then be persuaded to invest their money in relevant industries and numerous jobs will be created as well, he added. “Above all, the very wealthy reserves of the Persian Gulf will be perceived.”
In addition, head of Qeshm Fishery Office Parviz Mohebbi said that during the hunting season, 90 sailing boats are adrift to hunt shrimps using the traditional style. Some 600 tons of prawns were collected in the previous hunting season.
Four larva propagation workshops had produced more than 111 million prawn larvae during the last working season, Mohebbi stated. “About 50 direct jobs have been created through this,” he added.
Presently, a raising and propagating site is under construction in Qeshm which covers 80 hectares of land, he added, saying that the project will provide a total 100 direct and indirect jobs.
“Shrimps hunters face many problems until finishing their season activities,” Mohebbi stated, saying the prices have therefore decreased this year. However, hunters will feel more convenient as the site comes on stream, he stressed.
The 3-day ceremony includes an exclusive exhibition of prawn raising, propagation, and packaging methods as well as some fringe activities.
