TEHRAN, June 27 (Mehr News Agency) –- Plans to review tourism potentials for the longest world aqueduct was initiated in Gonabad, Khorasan Province.

With the collaboration of Khorasan's Governor General Office, the project aims to attract public and private sector investment on tourism industry, in order to convert the region into the largest tourism resort in Iran. Reviewing regional potentials, preparing reports and proposals, as well as makeover of the site are to be done in the first stage.

Dating back 2,500 years ago, the 34km aqueduct has a main well, 360m deep. It irrigates over 2,000 hectares of agricultural land employing traditional methods.
