TEHRAN, November 12 (Mehr News Agency) -- Ardebil Museum of Natural History housing several species of taxidermic animals, relics, and fossils is a beautiful collection of Iran’s natural creatures on a small scale.

The museum is located near the Shorabil pool, the most significant water ecosystem of Ardebil Province. It is a peaceful place with a beautiful perspective, not yet known to Ardebilis themselves.

 

A total of 17 mammalian species, 85 bird species, 20 fish species, 12 reptile and amphibian species, various plant and insect species, and different types of relicts and fossils are housed in the museum.

 

There is also an aquarium containing live samples of fishes and  other various live aquatic animals in the museum.

 

The most valuable information is available for enthusiasts of natural sciences, particularly children at the museum.

 

Hossein Sheikh-Jabbari, an expert at the environment said that the museum is a cultural, social, and scientific place. Housing mountain, sea, and land creatures, it is a useful place for acquainting people with nature.

 

The museum, covering 4500 square meters with the foundation of 1200 square meters, has been established in July 2002, Sheikh-Jabbari who is also an official in Ardebil Department of Environment said.

 

A total of 13089 Iranians and foreigners have visited the museum during the first half of the current Iranian year (started March 21, 2003).
