TEHRAN, May 24 (MNA) – The conference “Chabahar, Transit and Development of the Eastern Corridor” kicked off here on Saturday.

The Iranian roads and transportation minister, the caretaker of the ministry of interior, the secretary of the high council of special economic zones, and the customs officials of Kyrgyzstan, Syria, Oman, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Qatar, and Azerbaijan took part in the event.

 

Also attending the confab, the managing director of Chabahar Free Trade-Industrial Zone announced that Chabahar zone with its 2000 years of history plays a great role in international trade and economic transactions.

 

“The zone’s special strategic situation as a port has doubled Chabahar’s importance and value and made it a strategic place for trade and investment,” Mohammad-Taher Baqerizadeh said.

 

He added that Iran’s government has prepared all necessary facilities in the zone for the presence of both domestic and foreign investors, reiterating that the port is one of the world’s main ports with access to the north and northeastern countries of Iran in the shortest time.
