The General Assembly of CBI accepted the president’s proposal for appointing the new head.
The first vice president, government spokesman, economic affairs and finance minister, the caretaker petroleum minister, and banks’ managing directors attended the event.
Mazaheri was born in 1953 and has master degree in civil engineering. He was graduated from the Technical Faculty of Tehran University and has great experience.
He was the secretary general of CBI from 1991-1994, economic affairs and finance minister from 2001-2004, deputy economic affairs and finance minister from 2005-2006, and the head of Export Development Bank of Iran since 2006.
Ebrahim Sheibani formerly resigned from his post.
The Central Bank of Iran is state-owned and was established in 1960 with the primary objective to maintain the value of Iran's national currency (rial and toman).
