TEHRAN, June 9 (MNA) -- The provincial handicraft and souvenirs exhibition will be held to coincide with World Handicraft Day at the University of Tehran from June 10 to 17.

 

The most recent pieces of handicraft produced by artists from several provinces of Iran will be showcased in the exhibit.

 

As a sideline of this event, 22 renowned Iranian sculptors will be making a huge statue of an Achaemenid soldier which will be four meters tall and coated with 500 kilograms of chocolate. The statue will be unveiled on June 14.

 

The exhibition is cosponsored by the University of Tehran and the Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts Organization (CHTHO).

 

The handicrafts that will be on display include woodworks, pottery, tiles and ceramics, glass, leatherworks, traditional clothes, classical instruments, rugs and carpets and needlework.
