TEHRAN, Nov. 27 (MNA) – Lebanon's parliament speaker Nabih Berri called Wednesday on those displaced by Israel's war on Lebanon to return home as a ceasefire took hold, also urging the swift election of a new president.

"I invite you to return to your homes... return to your land," said Berri.

"Lebanon is still standing and I thank the friendly countries that stood by Lebanon," the speaker said.

He also called for the country to "quickly elect a president" as political bickering has left Lebanon without a head of state for over two years.

"Today, all countries should shoulder responsibility towards Lebanon and its prosperity," he added.
