TEHRAN, Oct. 02 (MNA) – Prices for West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude and Brent futures both rose more than 2% Wednesday after overnight missile attacks by Iran and Israel erupted tensions in the region.

Both crude benchmarks rocketed over 5% on Tuesday afternoon before closing around 2.5% up for the day - but oil broker Tamas Varga warned prices could erupt much further if Israel retaliates to Iran’s massive 180-missile attack Tuesday night.

The UN Security Council is set to meet later on Wednesday to address the geopolitical turmoil, as is the OPEC+ group of nations to discuss market conditions.
