Police shot the attacker after his stabbing spree in the northwestern region of Mannheim, Telegraph reported.
The man wearing black tracksuit bottoms, a black jacket and an orange backpack leaped on members of the public in a frenzied attack before being shot and surrounded by police, video footage shows.
A police spokesman confirmed an attack had taken place.
