TEHRAN, May 26 (MNA) – Cuba defeated Iran 3-1 (25-20, 14-25, 25-21, and 25-21) in the 2024 Volleyball Nations League (VNL) held in Brazil.

Previously in the tournament, Serbia and Italy defeated Iran 3-1 (27-25, 17-25, 25-19, 25-18) and 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-11) respectively in the first and second matches.

The Iranian tea, led by Mauricio Motta Paes, will play Argentina in the fourth match on Monday.

The VNL 2024 plays a major role in determining the last national teams that will qualify for the Paris Olympics.

The result of each match of the tournament’s Preliminary Phase will impact the FIVB Volleyball World Rankings, which will determine the teams to occupy the last five spots in next year’s Games.

Brazil, Canada, Germany, Japan, Poland, and the US have already secured their berths in Paris Olympics.

The 2024 FIVB Volleyball Men's Nations League is the sixth edition of the FIVB Volleyball Men's Nations League, an annual men's international volleyball tournament.

The competition is currently held from 21 May to 30 June 2024 and the final round will take place at Atlas Arena, Łódź, Poland.

World Ranking Points will be awarded or deducted after each match of the preliminary rounds of the competition and this will be important for some of the teams who haven't qualified for Paris 2024 yet: five additional Olympic quotas will be decided using the FIVB rankings in June 2024.
