TEHRAN, May 25 (MNA) – Iran beat Malaysia 7-1 in the 2024 Men's Indoor Hockey Asia Cup on Saturday to win the title for the ninth time.

the Iranian team defeated Singapore (8-0), Thailand (10-4), Tajikistan (37-0), Kazakhstan (5-3) and drew Malaysia (3-3) in their previous matches, Tehran Times reported.

Iran’s Amirmahdi Mirzakhani was named as the competition’s top goalscorer with 24 goals.

Host Kazakhstan also came third, beating Thailand 7-2 earlier in the day.

The tournament took place from May 21 to 25 in Taldykorgan, Kazakhstan.

Iran and Malaysia also secured their spot in the 2025 Indoor Hockey World Cup in Porec, Croatia, scheduled for Feb. 3 to 9 next year.

Iran are most decorated team in the tournament, winning ninth times out of 10 editions.
