TEHRAN, May 22 (MNA) – Algerian Foreign Minister Ahmed Attaf lauded the late Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian for their roles in expanding relations between Tehran and Algiers.

During a phone call with the caretaker of Iran's foreign ministry Ali Bagheri Kani, Attaf conveyed the Algerian government and people’s deep condolences to the Iranian government and nation over the tragic helicopter crash that resulted in the martyrdom of President Raeisi and Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian on Sunday.

Attaf expressed hope for the continued efforts of both countries in supporting the Palestinian people, stopping the crime and genocide in Gaza, and securing the rights of the Palestinian people.

For his part, Bagheri Kani emphasized the significant role played by martyr Amir-Abdollahian in enhancing cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Islamic countries in the region, including Algeria.

He also referred to the martyr Raeisi’s recent trip to Algeria, saying that the trip opened many doors in the field of developing relations between the two countries.

He also hailed Algeria’s efforts during its membership in the United Nations Security Council in advocating for the rights of the Palestinian people.
