TEHRAN, May 18 (MNA) – Head of the Development Basij Mohammad Zahraei says the Iranian media should be at the forefront of covering the news stories at a time when a soft war is being imposed by the enemies’ mainstream media.

The Iranian media should cover the news that gives hope to the Iranians, said Mohammad Zahraei at the closing ceremony of the First National Hope Media Cup on Saturday.

The news stories and developments related to Iran must be first narrated by the Iranian media, he noted.

The culture of Basij is being promoted in the Islamic countries, he further noted.

Elsewhere in his remarks, he touched on the destructive role played by the Western media in the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip.

The hegemony of the media in the West has suffocated the voice of the Palestinians who are under oppression in the war-torn enclave, he underlined.

About a year after the Islamic Revolution's victory, on November 26, 1979, Imam Khomeini called for the establishment of the Basij force to prepare for military and defense against enemy threats.

The First National Hope Media Cup which started today at the Comprehensive University of Islamic Revolution in the capital city will run for two days.
