TEHRAN, Apr. 24 (MNA) – Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Akbar Ahmadian held a meeting with the secretary of Russia’s security council Nikolai Patrushev on Wednesday in Saint Petersburg.

In a statement the Russian security council  said that Patrushev and Ahmadian signed a memorandum of understanding between the Security Councils of Russia and Iran and also discussed the establishment of practical cooperation between Russia and Iran in the field of security.

Based on the memorandum of understanding, the level of relations and cooperation between the two countries will increase in various strategic areas.

While in Saint Petersburg to attend the international meeting of high representatives responsible for security issues, Ahmadian held a meeting with Iraq’s National Security Advisor Qasim Mohammad Jalal al-Araji on Tuesday. In the meeting, Ahmadian and Al-Araji reviewed the implementation process of the Iran-Iraq security agreement and agreed to organize a meeting of the relevant committees as soon as possible.
