TEHRAN, Apr. 18 (MNA) – The commander of the Iranian army said that the sound of explosion heard in Isfahan on Friday morning was due to the shooting of air defense systems at suspicious objects that did not cause any damage.

Iran Army's Commander-in-Chief Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi said on Friday that about the sound of the explosion in early morning ii the suburb of the central city of Isfahan that "the sound of explosion that was heard in Isfahan on Friday morning was due to the shooting of air defense systems at suspicious objects that did not cause any damages."

The relevant experts are investigating the incident and will inform you (the public) after concluding the researches, added general Mousavi.

Meanwhile, the commander of the Iranian Army's Ground Forces is Brigadier General Kioumars Heydari said about the sound of explosion in Isfahan early on Friday morning that, "If suspicious flying objects appear in the sky of the country, they will be targeted by our powerful air defense and they will not be missed. The objects seen last night were suspicious and our country's defense was smart."

At around 4 am earlier on Friday, the air defense of the eighth hunting base of the Army Air Force in Isfahan was activated for interception and the sound of the air defense firing was heard in the northeast of Isfahan.
