TEHRAN, Apr. 17 (MNA) – Vice President of the Supreme Islamic Assembly of Shiites of Lebanon Sheikh Ali Al-Khatib says that Iran's retaliatory attack on Israel contributed to the unison of the Islamic world against the Zionist regime.

Iranian Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian met and held talks with Sheikh Ali Al-Khatib in Tehran on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the top Iranian diplomat hailed the efforts of the Lebanese Resistance against the Israeli regime's crimes and their support for the oppressed Palestinians.

For his part, Al-Khatib extended congratulations to Iran over the country's retaliatory military measure against the regime of Tel Aviv which was carried out early on Sunday.

He said that the Iranian retaliatory strike on Israel which targeted the Zionists' military bases in occupied Palestine led to the strengthening of the morale of the Muslim nations, especially the Palestinian people and the Resistance Front, and weakened the morale of the military and political officials of the Zionist regime.

The Israeli regime attacked Iran's consulate in the Syrian capital of Damascus on April 1. The Israeli aggression led to the destruction of the entire building and the martyrdom and injury of the entire people inside it.

Seven of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) military advisors were martyred following the Israeli attack on Iran's consulate in Damascus, IRGC said in a statement.

In response to the Israeli aggression, Iran attacked the Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories with a barrage of drones and missiles early on Sunday.

Following the attack, Iran announced that it does not seek to create tension in the region and had carried out the anti-Zionist operation to punish the Zionist regime. However, the Iranian political and military officials have strongly warned that the country would give a severe response in case of any fresh Israeli aggression.
