TEHRAN, Feb. 16 (MNA) – The Tehran Friday Prayers provisional leader Hujjat al-Islam Kazem Sediqi has called for a huge turnout to the upcoming parliamentary elections and election of the Assembly of Experts.

Speaking during this week's Friday Prayers sermon in the Iranian capital of Tehran, Hujjat al-Islam Sediqi said that the elections in Iran are like a thorn in the enemy's flesh and a factor for bringing about change in the country for the better. He added that the votes guarantee people security against enemies' pressures.

He said that the establishment of the Islamic Republic of Iran is based on people's votes, highlighting that Islam attaches great importance to giving a role to play by people to govern themselves.

"Because we have problems, we must go to the polls. A massive turnout in the elections gives fresh oxygen to the officials, and causes a new transformation and an improvement in the country's capabilities. The presence of the people supports the rulers to serve the people better and encourages the officials and makes the burden on the shoulders of officials heavier," the Friday Prayers interim leader added.

Sediqi further hailed the people for their massive turnout to the Feb. 11 (22 Bahman) rallies to commemorate the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution as a blow to the enemy's attempts to disappoint the people in the Islamic Establishment.
