TEHRAN, Jan. 30 (MNA) – Iran's Consul General in the Saudi city of Jeddah has reiterated the need for developing bilateral relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia at regional and the Islamic world levels based on the potential of the two countries.

Hassan Zarnegar Abarghouei made the remarks in a meeting with the Governor of Madinah Province Salman bin Sultan Al Saud on Monday.

Zarnegar underlined in the meeting the need for Iran and Saudi Arabia to promote economic relations, saying Iran is ready to develop trade ties with Saudi Arabia.

He also touched upon the eagerness that exists among the Iranian people to perform the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimage as well as visits to the holy Shia shrines in Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, Sultan Al Saud said in the meeting that high-ranking Iranian and Saudi officials are inclined to expand relations between the two countries. 

He noted that Saudi Arabia will make efforts to provide all kinds of services to the pilgrims of Masjid al-Haram and those of the Holy Prophet's Shrine.
