TEHRAN, Jan. 09 (MNA) – An explosion in a large cosmetic factory in Iran's Karaj, in the capital of Alborze Province in the north of Iran next to the capital of Tehran injured at least 25 people. on Tuesday.

There were reports that a gas leak caused that blast and it lots of damage was reported to the equipment and internal facilities of the factory.

The number of injured people in the cosmetic factory fire incident, which was reported to be at first 20, increased to 25 latert.

Hossein Ashuri, the head of the fire department of Fardis town in the suburb of karaj, where the blast took place told reported that, "At 3:30 p.m. today, with the announcement of a factory fire in Simin Dasht district, rescue and firefighting teams were dispatched to the scene of the incident."

He continued that "25 people were injured in this incident, and they were quickly transferred to Fardis and Karaj hospitals.

Regarding the cause of the accident, Fardis Fire Chief said: According to initial estimates, the cause of the fire in the production line was due to gas leak during the filling of cosmetic sprays, which led to the fire.

The media reported that the fire broke out in the factory after a loud explosion was heard, causing heavy damage to the factory.

Simin Dasht industrial town is one of the industrial towns of Alborz province, which is located in Fardis city and borders with Shahryar city. There are more than 150 factories operating in Simin Dasht.

Some media reporter put the number of the injured in the incident at 53 people.
