TEHRAN, Jan. 09 (MNA) – Secretary General of the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) Jürgen Stock has condemned the January 3 terrorist attacks on the southern Iranian city of Kerman, describing the incident as cruel.

Interpol is ready to support the Islamic Republic and cooperate with the country in the international arenas, Jürgen assured Iran’s Police Chief Brigadier General Ahmad-Reza Radan in a condolences message over the tragic incident. 

In his message, the Interpol chief expressed sympathy with the Iranian Police and the families of the victims and condemned the oppressive attack which led to the killing and injuring many innocent people.

Twin suicide attacks occurred in Kerman on January 3, 2024, killing some 91 people and wounding 284 others.

A day later, the terrorist group ISIL claimed responsibility for the attacks that targeted people who were on their way to visit the grave of Martyr Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani four years after he was assassinated in a US drone strike in the Iraqi capital Baghdad.

The same day, the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence issued a statement in which it announced that it identified and arrested perpetrators and supporters behind the Kerman suicide bombings .
