TEHRAN, Jan. 06 (MNA) – The President of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Football Federation, Mehdi Taj, has announced that the country has imported two video assistant referee systems (VAR).

The VAR systems arrived in the country on Thursday as planned and will be launched in coordination with the Ministry of Sports and Youth, said late on Friday after the friendly match between the Iranian national football team and Burkina Faso on Kish island, located in the Persian Gulf, south of Iran.

Taj expressed his dissatisfaction over the situation of refereeing the matches in Iran and stressed that the use of VAR will help remove the problems in terms of refereeing.

Reports have suggested that Iran delayed using the VAR during the matches due to the anti-Iran sanctions.
